We recommend the Wessex range of short rise step / platform lifts as an alternative form of home lift.
The SP500 step lift and the LR platform lifts are specifically designed for short rise situations (up to 1 metre) where ramping is not a viable option. Suitable for use in domestic and commercial settings, the SP500 (500 mm maximum rise) and LR (1.0 m maximum rise) range of short rise lifts are designed to accommodate standing passengers and wheelchair users. Both models have the option to be fitted internally or externally.

Wessex SP500 Step Lift
The Wessex SP500 is a short rise lift designed to take wheelchair users or standing persons up to a maximum travel of 500mm, where a ramp would not be feasible
This is a very reliable and easy to use lift, making it a popular option where access is required. It can be used in domestic situations, or out in the community (schools, shops, pubs, hotels and garden centres etc), giving independence to people when they are out and about.
A good option for small spaces, it takes up less space than a ramp solution and is easier to navigate. This is the smallest platform lift in the Wessex range and it is suitable for both indoors and outdoors. A pit is not required on install as the SP500 has an automatic ramp.

Wessex LR Platform Lift
The Wessex LR (Low Rise) platform lift is designed to be installed indoors and outdoors, helping to navigate short rises of up to 1 metre.
This is a perfect alternative to a ramp, as it takes up less space and is easier to use. Suitable for wheelchair users and standing passengers, it can be used in domestic settings, but also out in the community to enable full access to public spaces. Whereas the SP500 will travel up to 500 mm (half a metre), the Wessex LR travels up to 1 metre.
The Wessex LR is available in a range of 3 size options, according to the width of the platform. These are:
- LR800 (with a platform width of 800 mm)
- LR900 (with a platform width of 900 mm)
- LR1100 (with a platform width of 1100 mm)
The usable platform length for each model is 1450 mm.
Optional extras are available for the LR as follows:
Bridging Unit in multiple sizes
Perspex infill panels
Safe Working Load upgrade to 400kg
Upper Safety Gate (Recommended for rises over 380mm)
